Top-Produkte is an information resource for consumers. We work with data: published technical specifications and sources, calculators whose formulas we make visible, and comparisons based on stated criteria. We keep facts and assessments apart.
1. Data Sources
Depending on the topic, we use manufacturer information, official documentation, publicly available information, price information and our own calculations, among other things.
We name specific sources directly in the individual articles.
2. Calculations
- The formulas of our calculators are visible on the page itself.
- Your inputs shape the result: different values give a different result.
- Results are estimates. They are not measurements and no substitute for your bill.
- Rounding can cause small differences, for example in monthly and daily values.
Basic formula of the electricity cost calculator:
- kWh per use = watts ÷ 1000 × hours
- Cost per use = kWh per use × electricity price
- Uses per year = uses per week × 52
- kWh per year = kWh per use × uses per year
- Cost per year = kWh per year × electricity price
- Cost per month = cost per year ÷ 12 · Cost per day = cost per year ÷ 365
The calculation runs directly in your browser. No input is stored.
3. Product Data
Product information generally comes from the sources named in each article or from publicly available sources. We do not imply our own physical product testing where none has taken place.
4. Comparisons
Our comparisons are not an absolute ranking. Depending on the topic, they may take into account:
- technical characteristics
- price
- features
- running costs
- available documentation
- relevance for a particular use case
We state the criteria used in each comparison.
5. Updates
We review and update content when relevant data, sources or circumstances change, or when we find errors.
Where useful, we show the date of the last substantive revision.
6. Affiliate Links
Some older content may still contain affiliate links.
Top-Produkte currently does not use any active affiliate programs. Our calculators do not use affiliate commissions as an input value.

7. Report an Error
Have you noticed a mistake in a calculation, a figure or a source? You can find contact options on the contact page (German). We correct confirmed errors in the content concerned.
What is a fact, what is an estimate?
- Fact: information from the sources named.
- Estimate: results of our calculators based on your inputs.
- Assessment: our judgement based on the information stated, labelled as such.
